Learn about Cougars, wild cats of America Journey through North America on the trail of the Cougar Catamount. Puma. Mountain Lion. Cougar. All words used to describe a majestic animal that evokes the essence of wild America, a bygone era when the plains were filled with buffalo herds as far as the eye could see and flocks of migratory waterfowl darkened the daytime skies. Today, the buffalo herds exist in protected enclaves while isolated migratory flocks pick their way south via bodies of water interspersed with subdivisions and strip malls. And the cougar, once indigenous to the lower 48 states of the continental United States-- as well as Central and South America-- has been pushed into a fraction of its former range. Join the One World Journeys Expedition team as we follow the trail of
a mystical cat which has captivated the imagination of field
biologists, hunters and wildlife lovers all over the world. Learn
from acclaimed wildlife photographer Tom Mangelsen and nature writer
Cara Blessley Lowe why the cougar is threatened throughout much of
its habitat, and what needs to be done so that man and cat can live
in harmony together.
